Program 3

"Social action in Education in Catalonia"

We help students from needy families, in situations of vulnerability and risk of exclusion,

who lack economic possibilities and do not have access to official or private aid already established.

We are facing an unprecedented humanitarian and economic crisis that will produce profound changes in our world.

The Covid-19 pandemic has expanded vulnerabilities and inequalities in our society.

Covid-19 highlights the extension of poverty and the increase in citizens without resources in our country.

With this perspective, in view of the school year that, because of Covid-19, is being developed in person and, especially, telematically, with the inconveniences and difficulties that this entails, our NGDO gives a new orientation to solidarity activity in education, and opens a new aid project, with contributions of scholarships to students from needy families, in situations of vulnerability and risk of exclusion, from the Vallés regions, who lack the economic possibilities for it and do not have access to aid official or private already established.

This new project is carried out in collaboration with the Càritas del Vallés healthcare services and the Command of the Vallès of the Priory of Barcelona O.S.J. - Knights of Malta.

Our slogan:

"Learning in Harmony"

We have received Western culture from the East.

With Learning in Harmony we have the opportunity to express our gratitude.

We support the academic training of girls in Ethiopia.

We help the descendants of Makeda or Balkis, so that, in the future, they can reach positions of responsibility of service to their people, which makes them be and feel worthy of the Queen of Sheba.

ACTIONS DONE:

Learning in Harmony signed in 2009 a collaboration agreement with AFNE - "Associació de families de nens i nenes de Etiòpia" - non-profit NGO, in which scholarships were endowed for the training of girls in Ethiopia.

Program 2

Granting of scholarships for the academic training of girls and young people

from the Chimborazo region in the Ecuadorian Andes.

The Inca people were massacred and their culture eliminated by the Spanish conquerors.

One way to alleviate this damage, returning good for evil, is to collaborate in the training of girls so that they develop intellectually and can reach a university education that enables them to be leaders of their people without uprooting them from their environment.

Our NGDO was born with the spirit of being able to give a hand to those who usually nobody gives it.

There are ancestral cultures, in which generation after generation have lived under the traditional need for women to dedicate themselves from their earliest age to taking care of the house or to purely family tasks.

When they are 10-12 years old, the girls become essential labor for the maintenance of the family, helping with the work in the fields, caring for the herd, or other domestic needs.

From the age of 15-16, you have to start looking at who they are married to, and according to traditions, this can represent a substantial income for the parents, whether in money, animals or goods that increase the meager family heritage.

Neither university education, nor even intermediate level education, falls within the expectations of these cultures at all.

Scholarship for one of these girls represents offering them the opportunity that their entire society, over the years, can advance, and take giant steps towards their full development as a community, with equality for both genders.

Learning in Harmony signed an agreement in 2011 with the Cachamsi Association to grant scholarships to girls from the Ecuadorian Andes, in the province of Riobamba, with the supervision and tutelage of the Duchicela Foundation.

Activity that we have been carrying out, year after year, until today.
